New Year Greetings and 5 goals for 2026

Greetings one and all, hope you had a truly fabulous festive holiday and looking forward to the new year. I’ve heard it said so often, that celebrating new year’s is nothing special and somewhat anti-climactic. To a great extent new year celebrations like most things in life are what you make it for yourself. Life events and challenges can make it hard which is understandable but there is so much positivity in marking a new year.

New Year celebrations come at the best time – just after Christmas. We use that time to usher in the end of the old year, relax with family and friends, and then look to the future. For some of us this will be hard and understandably unwelcome if your life events are filled with loss and grief. However, in the spirit of Thomas Wayne in ‘Batman Begins’ when we fall down we learn to pick ourselves back up. A new year offers the hope of endless possibilities and outcomes – we can’t control everything but maybe we can keep a firm hand on the steering wheel and influence the journey in our favour. We can also channel that optimism to help others.

My goals for the new year are simple;

• Finish my book projects. Cine Persia: Voices of Iranian Cinema will be published in the first half of 2026 (updates to follow)
• Win two clients. Yes, I want to work with you, to tell your story and build your legacy. Lend your ear and I’ll show you what I can do for you.
• Make Ramon’s Coffee Guide the definitive coffee shop guide.
• Fully monetise Cine Bijou. Writing and journalism is a passion for me but it’s more than a hobby. I consider myself a professional and what I do incurs costs. However I don’t expect something for nothing. By monetising Cine Bijou I can offer high quality informative content and be better placed to support indie film.
• Run the Bristol 10K and take my brown belt in Karate. These two activities, for me are intrinsically linked to my writing venture. The help build resilience and discipline, both of which are vital on the road to entrepreneurial success.
